COVID-19 Resources for Nonprofits

There is A LOT of information out there concerning the current COVID-19 pandemic. While much of it is good information, often it can be overwhelming, and sometimes contradictory. We have devoted countless hours reading articles and education ourselves on the current situation. As a leader in your organization it can be hard to find the time to do this. That’s why we have carefully curated just a handful of sites that we believe can provide you with relevant, timely and accurate information so that you can stay informed without spending countless hours of your valuable time. If you agree, consider bookmarking their pages and following their social media accounts. Also, if your organization is able to, consider joining as a member so that they can continue to provide these resources to the nonprofit sector for years to come.

National Council of Nonprofits

With more of a national focus on the nonprofit industry, their page contains some of the most up to date information on constantly changing legislation.

NC Center for Nonprofits

The Center created a resources page specific to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as making much of their previous subscription-based content free for the public. They also created a nonprofit survey on the effects of the pandemic on local nonprofits which we encourage you to complete.

WNC Nonprofit Pathways

Located here in Asheville, Nonprofit Pathways also created a resources page containing multiple guides, links, and other resources for nonprofits with an additional focus to the local issues we are facing.

The Alliance for Nonprofit Management’s website includes a wide variety of resources for nonprofit organizations.

American Institute of Philanthropy

The American Institute of Philanthropy is a rating organization for nonprofit organizations. Their website also includes various resources for nonprofit organizations.

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross website includes the specific charitable organization’s policies, which contain examples of governance policies such as conflict of interest, whistleblower, and executive compensation management. Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation’s premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance

The BBB Wise Giving Alliance is a rating organization for nonprofit organizations. Their website includes various resources for nonprofit organizations.

BoardSource

BoardSource is dedicated to advancing the public good by building exceptional nonprofit boards and inspiring board service. BoardSource strives to support and promote excellence in board service, is the premier source of cutting-edge thinking and resources related to nonprofit boards, and engages and develops the next generation of board leaders.

Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest

The Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest is an organization that encourages the lobbying role of charities through various initiatives.

N.C. Center for Nonprofits

Serving as a statewide network for nonprofit board and staff members, an information center on effective organizational practices, and an advocate for the nonprofit sector as a whole. Enriching North Carolina’s communities and economy through a strong nonprofit sector and voice. We encourage 501(c)(3) nonprofits operating in NC, groups applying for this status, and other grassroots groups working for the community good to become members.

National Center for Charitable Statistics

National repository of data on the nonprofit sector. NCCS is a program of the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at The Urban Institute.

The Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy’s website includes the specific charitable organization’s policies, which contain examples of governance policies such as conflict of interest, whistleblower, governance responsibilities, and standard operating procedure. The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people.
